our approach

In an age where first impressions are typically made online your headshot is often the first point of contact with potential clients, employers, or collaborators. A fresh and up-to-date portrait not only showcases your professionalism but also conveys your personality and brand. It's an opportunity to make a strong, memorable impression and stand out in a competitive online landscape. Whether it's for your LinkedIn profile, company website, social media accounts, or online portfolio, a well-crafted headshot is an investment in your personal and professional image.

At Stef & Ethan, we prioritize creating a comfortable and confident environment for our clients during headshot sessions. Our goal is to capture images that truly reflect the essence of who you are. By providing guidance tailored to your preferences, we ensure that your individuality shines through in every photograph. Your headshots should embody your unique personality, and we work closely with you to achieve just that.

Whether you want a quick and simple portrait in a studio setting ,or we spend the afternoon shooting in a space that best represent your career, we want you to feel proud to display, post, and share your new headshot. No more hiding behind your faculty photo that was taken on a crummy cellphone when you first got tenure (true story!) or that one really pixelated photo that if you squint in just the right way I guess that could be you? And no more saying “ah sorry for this old photo” when you’re asked to submit your headshot for your work directory, for your upcoming speaking engagement, for your next online feature. Let’s take some new photos of you, the way you are, right now.

Q: Which headshot session is best for me?

No matter which session you select you’ll walk away with some great photos. Feel free to select based on your budget, or your needs. If having just a handful of photos on a neutral coloured backdrop (white, grey, black) is all you need let’s do that! If having some variety in your photos is important, if you will be cycling through your photos on different platforms for different purposes (one for your website, multiple photos for social, a photo you can submit for features, etc.) then perhaps an extended session would be better.

Q: Do you offer in office headshots for companies?

Yes, we promise we’ll make work picture day a fun experience! Please let us know what kind of photos you’re looking for (on a backdrop or environmental portraits in office) and how many employees will be getting their photo taken. We typically offer a bulk discount, spend just a few minutes shooting so we’re not taking too much of everyone’s time, and offer 1-2 final images per person. We can select an image or two that (we think) is the best of the bunch, or we can create private galleries for each employee to select their own final photos. We’re happy to customize packages and shooting style based on your companies needs, so let’s chat about this!

Q: Can we shoot a “quick & in studio” session on location?

We’re trying to make this a more affordable and accessible option for people, and with the majority of our clients being in downtown Toronto this is a happy medium that works for us providing a discounted price. Having set locations allows you to come to us whenever your schedule and budget allows. If taking your headshot against a backdrop is not quite your vibe we can alternatively offer shooting outdoors at Dufferin Grove or Mary McCormick Park for the ‘quick & in studio’ pricing.

Q: What is the turn around for photos?

You’ll receive your photos via a private online gallery within 1-2 weeks of our session where you can view, share, and select your final images. After you make your photo selection(s) you’ll receive high resolution images shortly after.

Q: What is the payment breakdown?

Quick & in studio sessions require payment in full in order to confirm your shoot. Extended sessions require 50% payment to book and the remaining balance due on the day of the shoot. E-Transfer is our preferred method of payment, we also do accept credit (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), and cheque. Photo sessions are non-refundable but are date transferable in case of inclement weather.
